Gas production in anaerobic digesters
In Bebra anaerobic digesters, organic waste is prepared so as to be able to carry out gas production.
Feed materials include organic waste products such as waste materials, agricultural fertilisers or certain types of plants. The advantage of this is that as waste products they can serve no other purpose. This means that gas production via biogas is a particularly affordable and efficient method of energy generation.
The biogas resulting from the gas production can be reused directly from the digester and fed into the gas distribution system. It can also be used in gas-powered vehicles.
A further advantage of gas production in anaerobic digesters is that it is not subject to any fluctuations such as the weather - organic waste is always available.
